‘Ederson to never play for Man City again as Pep Guardiola handed fresh blow’
Ederson may have already played his final game in Man City colours after Pep Guardiola was handed a new setback.
The Citizens are still battling for a spot in the Champions League next season, but with Nottingham Forest, Newcastle United, Chelsea and Aston Villa all fighting for the same, it is not guaranteed.
Last qualifying for only the Europa League in the 2010/11 campaign, it would be a massive setback for Guardiola, who is already under pressure from Man City fans due to the club’s overall season.
That has been made even harder, with Villa, Forest, and Bournemouth left to play in the Premier League, after news of Ederson’s, potentially, season-ending injury at the Etihad Stadium.

Ederson suffers injury blow with Champions League football on the line
According to The Times (15 April), the Brazilian fears that he could be sidelined for several weeks with a new groin injury, one which has flared up after carrying the problem for much of the season.
The 31-year-old was replaced in the 71st minute of City’s thrilling 5-2 win over Crystal Palace on Saturday, 12 April, as Stefan Ortega came on for his 11th appearance of the league season.
There are no doubts about the German’s abilities in between the sticks, even pulling off a season-defining save against Son Heung-min last season, but the change in goalkeeper could disrupt the team’s rhythm.
In addition to that, with the first-choice goalkeeper likely ruled out until the end of the season, some supporters might be worrying that this is his final season at the Etihad Stadium.

Man City’s first-choice goalkeeper linked with summer exit
Football Insider understands that Ederson is open to leaving Man City once the season is over amid ongoing links with a big-money move to Saudi Arabia, having spent the last eight years in England.
He has made 365 appearances for the Citizens since making the move from Benfica in 2017, becoming one of the most significant figures in the team, alongside the likes of Kevin De Bruyne, whose future is over at Man City.
These changes to the squad represent a much-needed changing of the guard, especially following a difficult season across all competitions, and it could be a rather emotional summer in Manchester.
Mateo Kovacic, John Stones, and Jack Grealish are all names linked with exits soon, but given Ederson’s impact over the last few campaigns, and how crucial a world-class goalkeeper has proven to be for top sides, it might be difficult to replace him this summer.
