Eduardo Camavinga: Mick Brown shares ‘brilliant’ Man United scouting verdict on Real Madrid star

Manchester United have joined a number of Premier League and European clubs in the race to sign Real Madrid star Eduardo Camavinga for a surprisingly low fee this summer.

The 23-year-old is growing increasingly likely to leave the Bernabeu given his lack of first-team football this season, placing multiple top clubs on alert.

Man United are determined to bolster their midfield options in the summer and the France international would represent a different style to their current options.

Former Old Trafford chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Camavinga remains very highly-rated and has been on their radar since his time at Rennes.

As Man United look to accelerate their transfer plans, and a number of midfielders are already on their radar, the Real Madrid star has emerged as a new contender.

Man United join rivals in race to sign Eduardo Camavinga

Brown told Football Insider last year that Man City are big admirers of Camavinga and had considered a move to lure him away from Real Madrid.

So far this season, the France international has started just 19 of his 33 appearances across all competitions and has largely been used as a rotation option.

As a result, there is a feeling he could leave the Spanish giants in search of first-team football, with Man United now prepared to join their rivals in the race.

“Camavinga is a very talented player,” Brown told Football Insider.

“He’s not the same type of player as Casemiro, but he plays in that position, and his talent has been clear even before he moved to Real Madrid, clubs have been after him that long.

“I watched him when he was in France and thought he would be brilliant wherever he went.

“It just feels like it hasn’t quite worked out for him at Real Madrid, no matter how well he’s done he never seems to be able to nail down a place in the starting XI.

“If he’s not happy playing that fringe role any more where he comes in every now and then in a few different positions, I can see him moving on.

“It won’t just be Man United looking at him, but I’m certain that if he is available, he will be on their radar.

“They need a midfielder, there are a few they’ve been looking at, but he could be an option instead, he’s definitely going to be one to watch.”

Who else is in the race to sign Camavinga?

Man United and Man City are far from the only clubs interested in Camavinga’s situation, with top clubs from across Europe keeping a close eye on his availability.

Football Insider revealed on 16 March that Liverpool are interested in signing Camavinga, with Madrid now ready to entertain the midfielder’s departure.

The Spanish giants are willing to listen to offers in excess of the £43million mark for the Frenchman, with the Reds seen as long-term admirers of his ability.

Los Blancos will not force the starlet out ahead of next season, and any chance of a deal is likely to hinge on whether Camavinga himself is keen to pursue a new challenge.

His talent and skillset are highly regarded by a number of Premier League clubs who believe he would be able to make the transition to English football.
