El Ghazi ‘will never wear’ Aston Villa shirt again after confirmed news – pundit

Anwar El Ghazi will never been seen in an Aston Villa shirt again.

That is the view of former Claret and Blue striker Kevin Phillips, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the 26-year-old’s temporary move to Goodison Park.

On Thursday (13 January), Everton announced the arrival of El Ghazi on loan for the remainder of the season.

It comes after Football Insider revealed (29 November) that Steven Gerrard plans to offload two from El Ghazi, Bertrand Traore and Trezeguet this month.

El Ghazi has 18 months left on his contract at Villa Park.

When asked by Football Insider‘s Dylan Childs for his reaction to the news, Phillips said: “This is the start of the end for El Ghazi at Villa.

“He has been a great servant for the club over the years but the club are now moving in a different direction.

“Players that have been there for a long time are getting edged out. That’s football. Gerrard has his own ideas of who he wants.

“I think it’s a great move for the player. He’s going to another big club. Everton are struggling though so the pressure is on him.

“It was clear that he wan’t going to be playing every week at Villa. If he plays well at Everton he’ll be able to secure a permanent deal there in the summer.

“Will we see him in a Villa shirt again? No, we won’t.”
