Elliot Anderson sends three-word message to Nottingham Forest fans

Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson took to social media to send a message to the fans after their edgy FA Cup penalty win over Exeter on Tuesday (February 11).

The 22-year-old came on as a late substitute with the score at 2-2 as the Premier League side avoided a shock defeat to League One Exeter.

Exeter took a surprise lead in the fifth minute after backup Forest goalkeeper Carlos Miguel was unable to keep hold of a tame effort, dropping the ball directly into the path of Josh Magennis.

Ramon Sosa restored parity for Nuno Espirito Santo’s side in the 15th minute before Taiwo Awoniyi put them ahead just before halftime.

A second Miguel howler gifted Magennis and Exeter a second after the Brazilian was unable to clear his lines from a corner.

Defender Ed Turns was set off for a dangerous challenge on Morgan Gibbs-White, who took to social media to thank the traveling Forest fans after the game.

Forest eventually won 4-2 on penalties, sending them through to the fifth round of the FA Cup, narrowly avoiding a ‘giant killing.’

The midfielder has become a key player for Forest since joining from Newcastle in the summer, starting 20 of his 25 games across all competitions, scoring one goal, and providing five assists in his 1688 minutes of action.

Anderson took to Instagram to celebrate their surprisingly narrow victory over Exeter, simply saying: “In the hat.”

Football Insider revealed (February 11) that Forest are looking to build upon their impressive season and have no intention of letting defender Murillo leave for cheap.

Forest’s attention will return to the Premier League as they travel to Fulham on Saturday (February 15) hoping to continue their impressive form.
