Elliot Anderson ‘will join new club for £100m – Newcastle are kicking themselves’

Nottingham Forest midfielder Elliot Anderson has been tipped to become a £100million player if he does well with England at the World Cup.

That is according to ex-Everton, Aston Villa, and Aberdeen chief executive Keith Wyness, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, who believes Anderson will be a star performer at the World Cup next summer.

Anderson wants to join Man City if he leaves Nottingham Forest, but the Tricky Trees will demand a hefty transfer fee for the 23-year-old.

Man United are also keen on signing Anderson, whose performances have seen him break into Thomas Tuchel’s England squad this season.

Elliot Anderson ‘to shine’ at World Cup

Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – believes Newcastle will be regretting selling Anderson to Nottingham Forest.

Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast, Wyness is confident that Anderson could hold a valuation of £100m in the next summer transfer window.

He told Football Insider‘s Inside Track podcast: “Well, as I’ve said all along, it’s going to be the World Cup that is going to be the key thing for Elliot Anderson. I think he will do well in the World Cup and he’ll be a £100 million player.

And that’s what it’s going to take. And I think that’s the case. I think Newcastle are kicking themselves. Now here’s an example we just talked about, about a player who was sold because of PSR issues and turns out to become a lot more valuable than they thought initially.

Now, would it be fair for us to sort of some way make up for the money to Newcastle in the next transfer, possibly. Anyway, it’s Elliot Anderson. I think he’s going to be, providing he stays injury free, I think he will shine. I think his time is coming. I think he’ll be one of the best, most valuable players and certainly in the £100 million range.”

Nottingham Forest pursuing new midfielder

Nottingham Forest are already lining up a move for a new midfielder in the January transfer window to increase the depth in their squad.

Hibernian midfielder Josh Mulligan is linked with a move to Nottingham Forest, whilst Leeds are also interested in the 23-year-old.

Mulligan was handed his first Scotland call-up in October, and has made 16 appearances for Hibs this season, scoring one goal and registering three assists in the Scottish Premiership.
