'End me now', 'Disaster' 'Scares me' - Tottenham fans react to one selection for clash v Palace
By Richard Parks
Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to express their dismay that Jan Vertonghen is absent from their team for Sunday’s Premier League clash against Crystal Palace.
Spurs confirmed on their official Twitter account shortly after their side was announced for the Selhurst Park showdown that the Belgian centre-back is missing from the matchday squad after sustaining an ankle injury in training on Saturday.

Manager Mauricio Pochettino is also unable to call upon Toby Alderweireld for the London derby as he has what the club claim is a minor hamstring problem.
It means that Eric Dier will drop back to central defence to partner Davinson Sanchez and they will be flanked by Serge Aurier and Ben Davies, with Victor Wanyama recalled to the starting XI for a league match alongside Mousa Dembele.
Vertonghen has been a mainstay of Tottenham’s backline this season, starting all 27 of their previous Premier League fixtures.
Spurs fans on social media are fretting about the absence of the Belgian, claiming it “scares me” that the team’s “rock” will not play.
Here is a selection of their messages on Twitter:
I said terminate their contract.
Nobody injured Jan without consequences don’t care if it’s the Queen.— Bud (@Aldertonghen_) February 25, 2018

Not having Vertonghen scares me, much more so than no Alderweireld. He’s the rock.

Vertonghen has a knock…. how long do we give it before the media start saying he’s actually not playing because there are problems and he wants to leave?! #coys #THFC
