English high-flyers plot bid for Rangers fan favourite with £2m+ valuation – report
English Championship club Bristol City are plotting a bid for Rangers forward Alfredo Morelos, according to a report.
The Scottish Sun claims that the Championship high-flyers are looking at Morelos, 21, in order to bolster their bid for promotion to the Premier League.
However it is understood that Graeme Murty will be reluctant to sell the Colombian striker, who has developed into a real fan favourite at Ibrox since making his £1million move from HJK Helsinki.
Morelos was one of a handful of Pedro Caixinha’s signings in the summer to have really impressed fans in Scotland.
The centre-forward has scored 12 goals in 25 appearances across all competitions and is currently the top goalscorer in the Scottish Premiership.
The Scottish Sun reports that Rangers will want more than double what they paid for Morelos in the summer, meaning he would be worth over £2million to anyone, including Bristol City, who would want to buy him.
Lee Johnson’s side are currently 5th in the Championship table and are launching a solid bid to earn their first ever promotion to the Premier League.
Football Insider verdict
Morelos is invaluable to Rangers. He has been their most important player this season and at the age of 21, he is only going to get better and better. Caixinha made a huge number of terrible signings in the summer but the Colombian was not one of them. Bristol City might as well start looking elsewhere but the £2million valuation of the forward should ring alarm bells. Morelos is worth much more than that to Rangers at the moment and to keep hold of him, Mark Allen and Graeme Murty should be demanding more. If the Robins were to offer over £2million, which they probably could, then the Light Blues would lose their most prolific forward.
