Eric Dier 'has got something' on Antonio Conte after what pundit has seen at Tottenham
Frank McAvennie doesn’t understand how Eric Dier is getting so much game time at Tottenham.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former West Ham striker urged Antonio Conte to sign a “top centre-half” to replace Dier.
The 28-year-old has made 22 appearances for Spurs so far this season.
The centre-back was in the starting lineup as the Lilywhites were booted out the Carabao Cup with a 2-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest.
Dier also featured for the London club’s win over Leeds United on Saturday (12 November), in which they conceded three goals before going on narrowly win the game 4-3.
The defender has been named in Gareth Southgate’s 26-man squad for the World Cup after a period of time out of the national side.

As quoted by the Evening Standard (13 November), Dier said he had to “fight a lot” to earn his way back into the national team.
McAvennie suggested Dier needs to be replaced at centre-back for Tottenham.
“If they had a top centre-half they would not be conceding as many goals,” he told Football Insider.
“I do not know what Dier has got, maybe he has got something on the manager or Daniel Levy. I do not know why he is still playing. As a striker all you need is a second to get past him.
“I just do not know why they have not bought a top centre-half. Conte obviously sees something that I don’t. I am not saying he is not a good player, but he is not a top centre-half and Tottenham need a top centre-half.“
