Eric Dier states major Tottenham disappointment against Watford
By Dominic Toner
Tottenham ace Eric Dier believes his side were “sloppy” in the early stages of their victory against Watford.
Spurs cruised to a comprehensive 4-0 win on Saturday in the Premier League, but were tested at the beginning of the game by a bright Watford side.
The Hornets created the first opportunity of the game through Jose Holebas and also managed to frustrate Spurs with a strong defence.
However, the north London club managed to make the breakthrough as Dele Alli struck in the 33rd minute.
Dier and Heung-Min Son then struck again before half-time, with the latter scoring a fourth in the second period to put some gloss on the scoreline.

Dier expressed his disappointment with how side side started at the weekend and feels they must be better in the future.
“We didn’t start very well and that was disappointing,” Dier said, as quoted by the club’s official website. “We need to start well against these teams and not give them any confidence, nothing they can build on, so we were disappointed that we didn’t start well.
“I think we were a bit sloppy to begin with but from then on, from when Dele scored onwards, we were very comfortable and we seemed to be enjoying playing.”
Spurs’ victory meant that they momentarily trimmed the gap to just four points behind Premier League leaders Chelsea, before they beat Bournemouth 3-1 later on.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side are still hopeful of clinching the title and will need a near-perfect run in the rest of the season to have a chance.
Spurs regular Dier has found some strong form recently and scored two goals in his las three games.
The England international has played at centre-back for most of the season, but has proven his versatility by featuring as a defensive midfielder recently.
