Erling Haaland sends emphatic message during ‘immense’ performance vs Man United
Erling Haaland has been hailed for his “immense” performance against Manchester United on Sunday afternoon.
Man United were looking to sink Man City to a 30-year low with a win, but Haaland had other ideas, scoring a brace in their 3-0 demolition of their city neighbours.
United fans aimed their frustrations at Bruno Fernandes for Phil Foden’s opener, while Roy Keane aimed a dig at Luke Shaw in his role for City’s first goal.
Ruben Amorim is a man under increasing criticism with United now losing two of their opening four Premier League games.

Erling Haaland sends a positive message
Haaland was instrumental from the first 18 seconds where he tried to pounce on a loose ball in behind United’s backline, firing narrowly wide of Altay Bayindir’s post.
Gary Neville sang Haaland’s praises on Sky Sports, following his second goal of Man City’s three goal rout.

Neville said: “Pep Guardiola’s had questions this week about who’s the best striker, this man or Isak. And he answered emphatically. Haaland’s been immense in this second half, in both boxes.
“It’s really comfortable, Maguire’s never going to catch him. He gets it back on that left foot and side foots it beautifully into that far corner.”
Erling Haaland’s form will be key as Man City chase Liverpool and Arsenal
Man City’s poor start to the season has been down largely due to frailties defensively, with Haaland, blameless for his side’s poor start.
Haaland has scored five goals in Man City’s opening four Premier League matches, and his form will be integral to any title charge that Guardiola’s side will mount.
2024-25 | Goals |
Erling Haaland | 22 |
Alexander Isak | 23 |
Viktor Gyokeres | 39 |
Liverpool signed Alexander Isak in a record breaking transfer deadline day deal, with Viktor Gyokeres signing for Arsenal this summer as well.
As the top two bolster their attacking ranks, City will hope they can continue to count on their number nine, as they set their sights on regaining the Premier League title.
