Erling Haaland: The truth about Man City talks revealed – Sources

Manchester City star striker Erling Haaland is strongly linked to Real Madrid amid speculation of release clause in his contract

Man City have not scheduled contract renewal talks with Erling Haaland despite Pep Guardiola claiming he is “in love” with the striker, sources have told Football Insider.

A well-placed source has told Football Insider that talks with the Norway international are “not imminent” despite Guardiola’s recent quotes.

The Spaniard insisted City are “in love” with the “incredible” forward – and suggested he wants Haaland to remain at the Etihad Stadium for a decade.

Haaland has been strongly linked to footballing giants Real Madrid in recent weeks.

Spanish media have reported that the 23-year-old feels he has to leave City if he is to be recognised as the world’s best player – and is “unhappy” in Manchester.

But Football Insider revealed on Monday (5 February) that Haaland currently has no plans to leave the Etihad Stadium amid widespread links with La Liga leaders Real Madrid.

Sources say City have “no worries” about their talismanic striker leaving at this time.

Haaland still has more than three years left to run on his contract at the Etihad Stadium following his arrival from Borussia Dortmund in 2022.

It is believed the striker could sit down for talks about his future in the off-season but formal contract talks are yet to be scheduled.

Haaland, who fired City to a historic treble in the 2022-23 campaign, recently returned to action after missing two months with a foot injury.

He remains the joint leader in the race for the Premier League’s Golden Boot award with 14 goals.
