Ernest Nuamah to Everton: Alan Myers shares ‘imminent’ update after £16m news

Everton transfer developments involving Lyon’s Ernest Nuamah have drawn an update from Sky Sports’ Alan Myers.

The 21-year-old Ghanaian talent has been linked with a €20 million (£16.8 million) move to Goodison Park, with an agreement on the fee reported by RMC Sport journalist Fabrice Hawkins.

Back in December, Football Insider revealed that a move for Nuamah was being actively considered, with plans for a January bid in place.

However, Myers offered a more cautious perspective, stating on X and replied to a fan about the potential deal. He said: “Ongoing, not sure anything is imminent.”

Everton are ready to back David Moyes this January transfer window

Football Insider Verdict

Everton are in desperate need of reinforcements to back David Moyes, who replaced Sean Dyche as manager on 11 January.

The Scot has been tasked with keeping the Toffees in the Premier League, with the club currently sitting precariously in 16th place—just one point clear of the relegation zone.

However, while Myers’ latest update may not provide immediate optimism, he has previously indicated that Everton could complete a few signings before the transfer window closes.

Former club chief Keith Wyness also expects Moyes to be supported, predicting “two or three” arrivals this month.

Strengthening the attack appears to be the top priority, as it should be. The club have struggled to find the back of the net this season, scoring just 15 goals in the Premier League. That is the second-worst in the division, ahead of only bottom-side Southampton (13).

Moyes’ return to Goodison Park has been billed as a fairytale comeback, but his first game in charge ended in disappointment with a 1-0 loss to Aston Villa on 15 January.

With points desperately needed, securing exciting forwards like Nuamah could be crucial to Everton’s survival hopes.
