Ethan Nwaneri pictured in another club’s kit amid Arsenal exit claim

Ethan Nwaneri may have fuelled speculation over his future after being pictured in a different kit, with uncertainty surrounding his Arsenal situation.

The 18-year-old enjoyed a breakthrough campaign under Mikel Arteta last season, stepping up when injuries left the squad short in wide areas.

His performances drew praise, but as it stands, Nwaneri has just one year remaining on his current contract and alks over a new deal have stalled.

Former Manchester United chief scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Nwaneri could quit Arsenal, with the club and his representatives yet to reach an agreement on fresh terms.

It’s believed the youngster is seeking assurances over playing time before committing his future, particularly in light of Arsenal’s interest in Noni Madueke, who has been heavily linked with a move to the Emirates.

Now, Nwaneri has sparked further speculation after posting an image of himself wearing a different kit on social media, hinting at a potential change ahead of the new season.

Ethan Nwaneri sparks reaction with Sporting CP shirt in holiday update

The choice of attire has fuelled fresh speculation over his future, given the uncertainty surrounding his contract situation at Arsenal.

Several teammates showed support for the post, with Declan Rice, William Saliba, and Borussia Dortmund’s Jobe Bellingham among those who liked the update.

Despite the forward having just one year left and his current stance of wanting more game time, Football insider revealed that Arsenal are not prepared to sell Nwaneri this summer.

That could mean the midfielder runs down his contract into next year, following a similar pattern to his previous deal, when he waited until the final weeks before signing a three-year agreement.

Although Nwaneri was pictured in a Sporting shirt, some may believe the post may have been a subtle nod to Sporting striker Viktor Gyokeres instead.

Football Insider reported that Arsenal are confident of signing Gyokeres this summer, with personal terms already agreed and a deal expected to be completed.

The Gunners had also been linked with Benjamin Sesko, but appear to have chosen the Swedish international as their primary target up front.

Whether Nwaneri will still be at the club to link up with him remains to be seen.
