Euro giants eye move for 19-year-old Liverpool target, available in the summer – reports

Liverpool could face a battle for Chelsea’s Dominic Solanke as Bayern Munich look to tempt the 19-year-old to Germany, according to a report.

According to the Daily Mail, Bayern have taken a keen interest in taking the Chelsea wonderkid, whose contract at Stamford Bridge expires at the end of the season.

It was reported that Antonio Conte has admitted that Solanke will leave Chelsea in the summer.

According to The Sun Liverpool are interested in the contract rebel, who has asked for wages of £50,000-a-week – something that Chelsea aren’t prepared to commit to.

Solanke would command a potential fee of £8million if he moved to Liverpool as the transfer fee would go to a tribunal, as was the case when Danny Ings moved to Anfield.

Chelsea would lose out on over £7.5million if Solanke chose to move to Bayern as foreign clubs are only required to fork out £300,000 in compensation.

English players like Owen Hargreaves and Dale Jennings have been on the books at Bayern in recent years.

Solanke is a product of the Chelsea academy but has only made one first time appearance for the London club. That came as a substitute appearance in 2014 when he played in the final phases of a 6-0 thrashing of Maribor.

He has recently been on loan at Dutch club Vitesse where he scored seven goals in 25 games for the Eredivise side.

Football Insider Verdict

If Solanke was to switch Chelsea for Bayern in a pursuit to find first-team football, it is doubtful that he would be able to get what he is looking for. A move to Liverpool seems a lot more logical from his point of view, but the only worry is that the Reds might be reluctant to pay the tribunal fee.

Bayern could secure some good, young talent for a pittance so it would be a good financial move on their part, but with the plethora of high-class talent in their squad it is very unlikely that the 19-year-old would be able to get much, if at all any, first team matches for the Bavarian club.
