Euro giants make approach for £35m Arsenal ace - Sky journalist
By Danny Wright
Inter Milan have approached Arsenal with an enquiry for defensive ace Shkodran Mustafi, according to a reliable journalist.
Sky Italy reporter Gianluca Di Marzio claimed on his personal website that the European giants are looking to bolster their defensive options before the transfer window shuts and have targeted Arsenal’s German international.
Mustafi only signed for the Gunners last year in a deal worth £35million and it seems that he could already be on his way out of the Emirates if Inter’s interest is serious.
It is understood that Arsenal may not be willing to let the former Valencia man leave on loan due to the amount they paid for him last summer, but the Serie A side are still trying to see whether or not he would be interested in a move to the San Siro.
Mustafi played regularly for the Gunners last season, making 37 appearances across all competitions despite suffering with several short spells on the sidelines with injury.

However he is yet to feature in the new campaign, having been out of the squad that beat Chelsea in the Community Shield final and also being left on the bench in the 4-3 win over Leicester last week.
Football Insider Verdict
Arsenal aren’t exactly blessed in the defensive department and Arsene Wenger’s tactical shift to a back three means that he is going to have to make more use of centre-backs in the future. Mustafi is up there with one of the best at the Emirates and it would make no sense to let him leave such a short while after he became one of the most expensive defenders in Premier League history. The German international will still have a role to play for the north London side at some stage this season, even if he isn’t in Wenger’s plans at the moment. Arsenal should rebuff any interest unless it would see them make a profit.
