Besiktas are plotting a summer swoop for Arsenal attacker Joel Campbell this summer, according to a report.
Turkish news outlet Fotospor claim that the European giants are planning to raid the Premier League this summer, and have named the 24-year-old on their four-man wishlist.
Campbell has failed to breakthrough into the Arsenal first-team following his move to the club back in 2011, and could be moved on this summer as Arsene Wenger trims his first-team squad.
The Costa Rica international has made just 40 appearances in all competitions at the Emirates, and has frequently been sent out on loan.
He spent last season on loan at Portuguese outfit Sporting Lisbon, which was his fifth loan spell since his move to Arsenal.
However, Besiktas may be willing to offer him a permanent route out of north London this summer, with club president Fikret Forest set to fly to London on Wednesday to enquire about moves for his shortlisted targets.
The Turkish club are also keen on signing West Ham’s Enner Valencia, Watford’s Obbi Oulare and Manchester City defender Eliaquim Mangala from the Premier League.
Meanwhile, the report also states they could pursue a deal for Championship attacker Jermain Lens, who has spent the last season on loan at Fenerbahce from Sunderland.
Football Insider verdict
Arsenal and Joel Campbell looked a promising affiliation years ago, but his lack of appearances for the Premier League in recent seasons suggests his time at the club is fast coming to an end. Arsene Wenger has yet to be convinced by the young attacker, hence his decision to repeatedly let him leave on loan. But Wenger’s presence at the club next season means Campbell could be offloaded once again, and with just one more year left to run on his current deal, it looks likely that Arsenal will take a cash offer this summer.
