Evangelos Marinakis set sights on who he wants to replace Sean Dyche as Nottingham Forest sack news emerges

Sean Dyche is under immense pressure at Nottingham Forest after their 3-1 defeat to Leeds United on Friday.

The Reds are in the middle of a massive fight for survival, and the recent result has given West Ham an opportunity to move three points behind the East Midlands side on the weekend.

As a result, many Forest fans are now calling for Dyche to be sacked, believing that the former Everton boss is leading them to relegation.

Now, the City Ground faithful could be about to get their wish, with Evangelos Marinakis already eyeing Marco Silva as a possible replacement.

Evangelos Marinakis a Marco Silva admirer amid Sean Dyche pressure

Silva has done an excellent job at Fulham since he took over the London club in 2021.

Since then, he has overseen their promotion back to the Premier League and has established them as a comfortable, mid-table side.

However, in recent months, Silva’s future at Fulham has become uncertain, with his contract expiring at the end of the season.

Now, according to talkSPORT on 7 February, Marinakis is a big admirer of the manager amid the current poor run of form Dyche has overseen.

So far, he has expected a better upturn of results from Dyche since his appointment in October.

However, it remains to be seen if he will pull the trigger on the former Everton boss if results do not improve.

A key match against Wolves comes up on Wednesday, and if Forest do not win the match, Dyche may be in serious trouble.

What did Dyche say after the Leeds United defeat?

Against Leeds, Forest were completely outplayed.

Few of the East Midlands side’s players put in a good performance, with the match essentially out of sight at half-time.

With the match being viewed as a relegation six-pointer, it was a devastating performance for many of the travelling fans, as a drop back into the Championship remains a strong possibility before the season is over.

Dyche was equally disappointed with the display, with the manager clearly unhappy about how quickly Forest conceded just after half-time to put the hosts 3-0 in front at Elland Road.

Speaking to Sky Sports on 6 February, he said: “The killer for us was giving away the goal. We responded somewhat and then they scored a second.

“I said at half-time we’ve got to rethink. Then we conceded really quickly and the third goal is awful as well. There’s no qualms about the result – they were better than us.

“We’ve had late changes, which is not perfect. You’ve got to do the basics and we didn’t do them. The goals are awful for our standards. You can’t give away chances like that at this level.

“The mentality was good at the end, we were still pushing, but it would have been getting out of jail. Our performance wasn’t there.”
