Evanilson responds to Bruno Guimaraes ‘fight’ message after Newcastle v Arsenal

Bruno Guimaraes took to social media to share his frustrations after Newcastle lost to Arsenal, with Bournemouth’s Evanilson noticing the message.

The Magpies were beaten 1-0 by Mikel Arteta’s side at the Emirates, with Declan Rice scoring a 55th-minute winner for the hosts.

Arsenal are now guaranteed a Champions League spot after the win, but Newcastle remain in an almighty battle to secure a top-five finish.

Eddie Howe’s side are third in the table currently, but they sit just one point ahead of Nottingham Forest in seventh, ahead of a final-day clash against Everton at St James’ Park.

Guimaraes sends rallying call to Newcastle fans

Newcastle were dominant in the first half against the Gunners, but just couldn’t find that all-important goal to go ahead.

The Magpies had ten shots in the first period, with five on target, but after the break the tide completely turned, and they didn’t muster a single shot on target.

After the game, Guimaraes took to social media to send a message to the travelling fans, as well as sending a rallying cry ahead of Newcastle’s final game of the season.

The midfielder shared a photo of himself from the match, with the caption: “I think we deserved more today! Thank you for your support this afternoon. Your cheering will be crucial next Sunday. Together we are stronger. Let’s create a great atmosphere and fight together like we did all season. We are one. Howay the lads!”

Bournemouth striker and fellow Brazilian Evanilson liked the post, to show support to his fellow countryman.

Newcastle get Botman boost

The Magpies have received a boost ahead of their final game of the season, as Football Insider exclusively revealed that Sven Botman will remain at Newcastle, despite interest from PSG.

That is according to former Man United and Sunderland chief scout Mick Brown, who said that the 25-year-old feels he owes a debt to the club after his injury issues.

Botman has featured seven times in the league this season for Eddie Howe’s side, after returning from a long layoff due to an anterior cruciate ligament injury.

The defender joined the club from Lille in the summer of 2022, and played 36 out of 38 league games in his first season at St James’ Park.

Magpies fans will be hoping the Netherlands international can stay fit for the 2025/26 campaign, and string together a run of games.
