27-year-old PL ace tells teammates he expects Everton move - report

By Harvey Byrne

Manchester United midfielder Morgan Schneiderlin has told his teammates that he expects a move to Everton, according to a report.

The Sun has claimed that the 27-year-old Frenchman wants a move to Goodison Park and expects it to happen despite interest from elsewhere.

The report names homeland team Marseilles alongside Premier League West Brom as interested in the experienced top flight player.

However, the midfielder has previously worked with Ronald Koeman at Southampton and could be looking at a reunion with the Dutch manager.

It is stated that the France international will be the subject of a new bid from Everton after having an approach worth £19million including add-ons rejected.

The Sun believes that the Old Trafford giants are looking for as much of the £24million they paid the Saints for Schneiderlin in the summer of 2015.

Everton are in desperate need for a midfielder this month with Idrissa Gueye heading to the AFCON with Senegal.

It has left the Toffees with Gareth Barry, Tom Davies, James McCarthy, Tom Cleverley and Darron Gibson as Koeman’s midfield options.

He will now be keen to bring in his own men in January as he looks to avoid a disastrous dip in form like the one suffered earlier this season.

Football Insider verdict:

Schneiderlin would instantly become Everton’s best midfielder at the club if he was to move there. The defensive midfielder showed at Southampton that he has what it takes to play at the best clubs and it is unfortunate that he hasn’t got a proper run out at Manchester United. However, that will be all to the Toffees gain and Koeman will be looking to build a formidable Gueye-Schneiderlin partnership similar to the one built up with Victor Wanyama on the south coast. Farhad Moshiri talked the talk in the summer about spending millions, which ultimately attracted Koeman from Southampton. He must now supply his manager with the money to secure his targets.

In other Everton transfer news, Leeds are in a three-club battle to sign this Toffees midfielder.
