Sky Sports presenter Jim White reported on Sunday that Keane was set for a medical with the Toffees after a £25million fee was agreed upon between Everton and their north-west rivals Burnley.
The defender proved himself as a capable Premier League performer as he helped Burnley avoid relegation from the top-tier last season and also earned his first and second senior international caps with England.
He made 39 appearances across all competitions in 2016/17 for the Clarets, scoring twice.
After being released by Barcelona just a year ago, Spain Under-21 international Ramirez proved the Catalans to have made a mistake by bagging 16 goals in 31 appearances across all competitions – with one coming against Lionel Messi and co.
Both Keane and Ramirez would take Koeman’s spending over £80million this summer if the transfers go through after Jordan Pickford, Davy Klaassen and Henry Onyekuru were already announced.
Football Insider Verdict
Keane has the ability to become one of the Premier League’s, or even England’s, best centre-backs in the future. He is already close to that standard now and moving to Goodison Park to play alongside some top defenders like Leighton Baines and Ashley Williams should really see some improvement to his game. Ramirez also looks to be a good buy. As a Barcelona youth product, the striker is certainly not going to be a waste of money at just £5.25million. Everton may have to slightly balance the books though, which means that Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley could be encouraged to follow Gerard Deulofeu out of the door.
