Everton closing in on 18-year-old from Championship – reliable journalist
By Derek Smithson
Everton are close to securing a deal for QPR attacker Josh Bowler, according to a reliable journalist.
Sky Sports correspondent Kaveh Solhekol has claimed on his personal Twitter account that the Toffees are edging towards the signing of the 18-year-old from the Championship club.
The teenager only agreed his first professional contract back in February at Loftus Road and has made just one senior appearance.
The right winger made his debut on the final day of the league season against Norwich as he came off the substitute’s bench for a cameo role.
However, that has not deterred Everton’s interest in the Englishman and they are keen on a player with minimal experience.
Get West London have reported that QPR have already rejected a £500,000 bid rising to £3million from the Merseyside club for Bowler.
It is understood that Ronald Koeman’s side have returned with a second offer and are yet to hear QPR’s response.
Bowler has been with the London-based club since 2013 and is being tipped to have a bright future.
Football Insider verdict:
Everton’s youth policy continues to remain pivotal in their transfer business and they will hope to unearth another star in Bowler. They are persistent on securing a deal for a player that has just 21 minutes of senior football under his belt. However, the Toffees must see huge potential in the 18-year-old and it makes sense for him to develop in their Under-23s side if they think so. Dutch manager Koeman has not been shy to introduce youngster to his first team at Goodison Park, with the the likes of Tom Davies, Ademola Lookman and Dominic Calvert-Lewin shinning examples.
In other Everton transfer news, they have been installed the clear favourites to sign a Premier League striker.
