Everton could accept Dominic Calvert-Lewin offer as £5m+ details revealed – sources
Everton will not be able to keep Dominic Calvert-Lewin at the club if they are relegated to the Championship, sources have told Football Insider.
The Merseysiders sit just two points above the drop zone after being deducted eight points for financial breaches in the 2023-24 campaign.
Dropping to the Championship will have huge ramifications for Sean Dyche’s side – with several key men set to leave for cut-price fees if they finish in the bottom three.
Among those will be 27-year-old Calvert-Lewin – who has been the first-choice striker for Everton this term.
The England international has a contract running until June 2025 and is believed, sources say, to earn around £100,000-a-week at Goodison Park.
Everton to sell Calvert-Lewin this summer if relegated from Premier League
It has been widely reported that very few Toffees players have relegation wage drops in their contracts – meaning the club face paying Calvert-Lewin more than £5million per year in the second tier.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Everton will look to move the striker on in the event of relegation.
However, Football Insider revealed on Monday (15 April) that the Merseysiders are keen to extend the contract of Calvert-Lewin if they remain in the Premier League to prevent him leaving for free in 2025.

He has made 33 appearances across all competitions so far in the 2023-24 campaign, notching six goals and two assists.
The 27-year-old, who joined Everton in 2016, has started in 27 of those outings.
