Everton could lose eight stars after ‘big’ John Textor news – sources
John Textor and his team will run the rule over Everton’s out-of-contract stars over the winter if his takeover goes through, sources have told Football Insider.
The US investor is continuing his efforts to purchase the Goodison Park club amid reports that Dan Friedkin is re-entering negotiations.
Textor must first sell his share in Crystal Palace before he is able to complete a buyout at Everton.
But if the formalities are completed, the 58-year-old will have a huge in-tray with Sean Dyche’s side again battling for Premier League survival.
Football Insider revealed on Monday (16 September) that Textor is set to make “big” funds available in the January window.
His links with Lyon are also set to be exploited once again following the loan signing of Orel Mangala in the summer.
Textor to run the rule over eight Everton stars if takeover goes through
Textor and his recruitment team will also need to make key decisions on the future of eight first-team stars out of contract at the end of the 2024-25 campaign.
Dominic Calvert-Lewin is the most notable and high-value star who could walk away for free in June 2025 after interest from Newcastle in the summer window.
January could be the last chance to sell the England international if he remains unwilling to pen a new Everton contract.
Ashley Young, Seamus Coleman, Asmir Begovic, Michael Keane, Idrissa Gueye, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Joao Virginia are also out of contract next June.
Armando Broja, Jack Harrison, Jasper Lindstrom and Orel Mangala are on loan at Goodison Park and set to return to their parent sides at the end of this season.

Textor may need to factor potential relegation into any contract negotiations with Everton pointless after four games in the Premier League this term.
The US investor has reportedly enlisted the backing of Aliya Capital Partners to help push through his takeover on Merseyside.
