Everton discuss deal to sign Jorgen Strand Larsen as David Moyes makes Dwight McNeil exit decision

Everton have discussed a potential move for wantaway Wolves striker Jorgen Strand Larsen in the January transfer window.

Wolves are bracing for interest in Strand Larsen, as several clubs ready moves for the Norway international.

The striker has endured a difficult season amid his team’s struggles and would be keen to secure an exit before they are relegated to the Championship.

West Ham are expected to make a move for Strand Larsen, with Nuno Espirito Santo keen to find a way out of his team’s own relegation scrap.

Wolves are set to target Kieron Bowie to replace the 25-year-old, as they prepare for the impending drop.

David Moyes makes Dwight McNeil decision as Jorgen Strand Larsen considered

A striker is at the top of the list for Everton in the January transfer window. The Toffees have struggled for goals at times this season, with Thierno Barry and Beto often found lacking.

Many of the goals scored by David Moyes‘ side have instead arrived through Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall and Iliman Ndiaye, with Jack Grealish also finding the net on occasion.

Barry scored against Nottingham Forest on Tuesday, however, and has started to find his feet in the Premier League.

Strand Larsen would provide a more reliable presence in front of goal, however, and the Daily Mail reported on Thursday that the striker has been discussed at the Hill Dickinson Stadium alongside Ivan Toney and Roma striker Artem Dovbyk.

Dwight McNeil provided an assist against Nottingham Forest, on just his 10th Premier League appearance of the season.

The Daily Mail reports that while the winger is attracting interest, Moyes is reluctant to sell him in January.

Moyes tempers Everton expectations for January window

It has been an up-and-down season for Everton, but brief stints of positive results in recent weeks have left them eighth in the Premier League.

The Toffees are just four points behind fourth-placed Liverpool, but such is the league’s tightness in the middle, they could just as easily drop to 14th with one bad result.

Nevertheless, just a few good additions could easily see Moyes’ side launch a run for the European spots in the second half of the season, although the Scot was hesitant to offer any guarantees.

“I think in all the press conferences I’ve been in, I’ve always said I don’t think we’ll be doing loads of business in January,” he said before Christmas.

“If we find some players, we’ll be delighted to do it and the CEO will be as well, and the owners if we can do it. But I think it’s more to do with trying to have a plan where the ownership want us to have a plan and want us to prepare and do everything in a certain fashion.”
