Everton dressing room fears raised after what I've seen from Richarlison - expert

Alan Hutton has raised major doubts over the attitude of the Everton dressing room in their fight against relegation.

The former Spurs defender, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the likes of Richarlison have not shown the necessary “fight” during the Toffees’ battle for survival.

Speaking during Sky Sports‘ coverage of Everton’s 2-0 defeat to Liverpool (24 April), as quoted by the Mirror, Jamie Carragher slammed the 24-year-old for going to ground too easily at Anfield.

Hutton insisted the Brazil international needs to “roll his sleeves up” and “fight for the cause”.

However, he suggested Richarlison is not the only player’s mentality he has doubts about.

Asked if Everton could rely on Richarlison’s attitude in their survival fight, Hutton told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “For me personally, that is the question mark above them as a team.

“I don’t really want to put a rite on him as an individual, but I think they’ve never really been in that situation of an absolute dogfight. You’re in the middle of it, it was always: ‘They’re too good to go down.’

“Nobody’s too good to get as we can see. If you look at the squad in general, not many of them have had to fight through that. It’s a difficult situation to be in.

“There’ll be boys looking about each other saying: ‘Who’s going to come up with the goods here?’

“It doesn’t help when you’re throwing yourself to the ground and rolling about. This is the thing that’s frustrating and you do get a name for yourself.

“Roll your sleeves up and fight for the cause. That’s what everybody’s looking for. So it’s a question mark about the whole team for me.”
