Everton and Euro giant express interest in Ligue 1 midfielder – reliable journalist

By Harvey Byrne

Everton and Italian giant Inter Milan have expressed an interest in signing Nice midfielder Jean Michael Seri, according to reliable journalist.

Ed Aarons, the deputy news editor at the Guardian has reported via his personal Twitter account on Friday that the two clubs have joined the race for the 26-year-old, who has already been linked with moves to Arsenal, Tottenham and Barcelona.

Aarons however also reported in a further Tweet that the Toffees only see Seri as a backup option if they are unable to complete a move for Swansea’s Gylfi Sigurdsson, while the Gunners are “still” favourites to sign the Ivory Coast international.

This claim follows a report from the Guardian that stated that the Toffees were still looking to make three more signings with Sigurdsson specifically named.

However, given the Swans’ high asking price they may now be seeking alternatives and Seri could be viewed as a possible candidate.

The midfielder played in 40 matches in all competitions for Nice last season, scoring seven goals.

Football Insider verdict:

Given the extortionate price-tag that Swansea are requesting for Sigurdsson it is only right that Everton look at alternatives like Seri. However, this could just be a ploy from Everton to try and force the Swans into selling their star at a reduced price by suggesting that they have other names in mind if they are unable to bring in the Iceland international. Seri himself impressed in a Nice team that finished in third in Ligue 1 in the last campaign and he would certainly help Everton push up the Premier League places. However, it has been made clear that Sigurdsson is their first choice target and they must ensure they bring the Premier League proven attacker into Ronald Koeman’s already impressive looking Everton team this summer.
