'Stunk the place out', 'Need to bin' - Everton fans destroy £150k-a-wk player display v Swansea

Everton fans have torn Wayne Rooney to shreds for his performance in the 1-1 draw Swansea at the Liberty Stadium on Saturday.

Rooney, 32, was named to start in midfield, but the former England international failed to get much of a grasp on the game as Sam Allardyce’s side went on to let slip of a lead and take home one point.

After signing from Manchester United in the summer as Romelu Lukaku left Merseyside, Rooney has really struggled to improve the form that saw him drop down the pecking order at Old Trafford.

He has in no way been helped by differing managerial situations at Goodison Park as Allardyce’s style of play has surely stifled the way that the 32-year-old can make his mark on games.

Everton fans had no such sympathy for Rooney on Saturday though and took to social media to destroy the midfielder.

One angry Evertonian claimed that that the club “need to bin” him in the summer.

Rooney took a significant pay cut to leave Man United to rejoin his boyhood club in the summer.

The Daily Mail reported that he agreed a £150,000-a-week deal at Goodison Park having been earning double that at United.

Since signing for the Toffees, Rooney has made 38 appearances in all competitions, scoring 11 goals in the process.

In other Everton news, the Toffees must hijack this bid to sign a defender from sixth-placed club as it will solve a massive issue in the squad.
