‘Loving this summer window’, ‘I’m going to cry tears of joy’: Everton fans react on Twitter to reported interest in 64-time international

Everton are reportedly ready to sanction a summer move for Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud, and fans on Twitter are all in favour.

The Sun claimed on Sunday that the Toffees were interested in a £20million move for the out-of-favour 30-year-old, who faces an uncertain future at the Emirates this summer.

Giroud earned more than his fair share of first-team opportunities for Arsenal in 2016-17, scoring 16 goals from 40 appearances in all competitions, but he has often found it difficult to earn a regular role in the starting eleven.

Arsenal are also understood to be closing in on a new goalscorer in Lyon star Alexandre Lacazette, which could see France international team-mate slip even further down the pecking order next term.

Everton, meanwhile, are in the market for both cover and a potential replacement for lead goalscorer Romelu Lukaku, who could be set to return to Chelsea over the coming months, and Giroud is on their shortlist.

The 64-time France international attacker has also been attracting interest from West Ham and Marseille, but Everton fans have given the green light for their side to pursue a deal.

Everton have already splashed the cash as manager Ronald Koeman continues his overhaul of the first-team squad, with their spending already well past the £50million mark.

The Toffees broke the £50miliion barrier on the signings of goalkeeper Jordan Pickford and midfielder Davy Klaassen alone, and more deals are set to follow in the coming days.

Sky Sports news presenter Jim White claimed on his personal Twitter account on Sunday that defender Michael Keane was set to undergo a medical at Goodison Park ahead of a proposed £25million move from Burnley.

He also revealed that the Toffees had completed a deal to sign Malaga attacker Sandro Ramirez, who has signed a five-year contract at the Merseyside club.

In other Everton news, Robbie Fowler has delivered his verdict on the club’s summer transfer business.
