Kenny: Everton fans will be livid if Ancelotti breaks 'crucial' promise
Carlo Ancelotti must deliver on his promise and get Everton playing more attractive football if they are to challenge the elite next season.
That is according to ex-Premier League goalkeeper Paddy Kenny, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after Everton’s 1-0 win over West Ham on Sunday.
In his pre-match press conference, Ancelotti said: “We need to improve some positions on the pitch, with better quality, to try to play more attractive football.”
Everton’s victory over the Hammers boosts them to within two points of the top six in Ancelotti’s first full season at the helm.
Everton and West Ham are the only two teams in the top half to average less than 50 per cent possession this season (Wyscout).
This has led some to accuse Everton of playing functional football, and Kenny claims this must be addressed ahead of 2021-22.

He told Football Insider correspondent Adam Williams: “That will definitely be crucial. They’ve got to play more attractive football.
“They’ve got to sort their home form out too. Their away form has been good but it’s hard to talk about home form because of the lack of fans.
“But if fans had been there, would they have had a better home record?
“If the results would have been as they are, Ancelotti would have been under more pressure.
“They’ve got to sort it out. But those fans will want them to play better football next season, without a doubt, especially when they are actually watching them in the stadium.”
Only Man City (42) and Man United (40) have picked up more points on the road than Everton (36) this season.
But on home form alone, the Toffees are 15th in the Premier League table with just 19 points from 17 games.
