Everton legend has already told Leeds why they must sign ‘inventive’ target – ‘Something special’
Leeds United could sign an extremely gifted player in the January transfer market if previous comments are to be believed.
Daniel Farke has put his trust in Dominic Calvert-Lewin, a decision which appears to be paying off for the under-pressure boss, but the Whites are desperate for more firepower in the Premier League.
Dan James is currently sidelined for Leeds, and so too is Lukas Nmecha, with no player yet registering more than five goals at Elland Road in the opening 16 matches.
Joel Piroe, who has fallen down the ranks at Elland Road, netted 19 times in their Championship-winning campaign last term, but that looks extremely unlikely for anyone in West Yorkshire right now.

Leeds United are ready to sign Ruben Vargas next month
Mick Brown has revealed to Football Insider that a “top-class” striker is on Leeds’ radar ahead of next month, and plans appear to already be in place for Farke and his team.
Leeds are preparing an offer for Sevilla’s Ruben Vargas, who has already notched three goals and four assists in 12 La Liga matches this season, already surpassing his stats from the previous two campaigns.
It is his first real chance to impress since joining from Augsburg, having been hindered by injuries, but England fans should be well aware of his displays with the Switzerland international team.
The 27-year-old has 10 goals and nine assists in 58 caps, and the entire country was frightened about coming up against him at Euro 2024 after a stunning performance against Italy in the previous round.
Pat Nevin has already bigged up the Sevilla star
“Ruben Vargas was inventive and decisive on the left flank. Vargas was really something special, and I felt sorry for Giovanni di Lorenzo. He had a terrible time,” Pat Nevin said back at Euro 2024 [BlueWin].
He had scored and assisted in a 2-0 win over the Italians in the round of 16, setting up a quarter-final clash with the English, though Gareth Southgate‘s side were able to shut him out.
While Noah Okafor already has Willy Gnonto as his competition on the flank, with his ability to also play on the opposite flank, as well as attacking midfield, he would be a huge addition to the team.
Available for just £17.5million, it seems like a no-nonsense purchase, with relegation still on the cards at Elland Road, and it looks as though he has rediscovered his form from Euro 2024.
