Sources: Frank Lampard under new Everton threat after late-night development
Everton are expected to sack Frank Lampard ahead of their Premier League clash against Southampton, sources have told Football Insider.
The 44-year-old will remain in charge for Friday night’s FA Cup tie against Man United but it is increasingly likely that will be his last match at the helm.
Lampard is on the brink following a run of eight defeats in 11 matches and the results on Wednesday night have further concentrated minds in the Goodison Park boardroom.

Nottingham Forest’s win at bottom club Southampton has lifted them out of the relegation zone and pushed Everton, who were thrashed by Brighton 24 hours earlier, into the bottom three.
Goodison owner Farhad Moshiri, who rarely attends matches these days, is expected to green light the start of the process of appointing yet another new manager.
Names are already being thrust at the billionaire owner by agents and a new man could now be in the dugout for the next Premier League game against Southampton on Saturday week.
Lampard had been under pressure at Goodison before the World Cup but, as revealed by Football Insider on 15 November, Everton chiefs decided to stand by and give him the chance to turn their season around when the campaign resumed.
The Chelsea legend oversaw a notable draw at Man City last weekend, but that was bookmarked by defeats to Brighton and relegation rivals Wolves meaning just one point out of nine since the resumption.
The Merseysiders have lost nine of their 18 Premier League outings this term – including five defeats in their last eight games.

Lampard joined Everton in January of last year and managed to avert relegation in the final weeks of the season.
The former Chelsea and England midfielder led his side to 10 points from a possible 15 in their last five games of the 2021-22 campaign to avoid the drop.
