Everton must be prepared to move quickly and to face a bidding war if they are serious about their quest to land 21-year-old Norwich City midfielder James Maddison this summer.
It has been reported that the Canaries will let their star player leave but not before slapping a £25million price-tag on the player’s head.
Maddison has been setting the Championship alight with 14 goals from the centre of the park in 41 appearances and has attracted interest from some of the Premier League’s big guns.
But with the likes of Chelsea, Tottenham, and Manchester City all in the running for the player’s signature, the Toffees must be aware that the £25m will probably rise.
It has been previously suggested that the England U21 ace is certain to leave Carrow Road and the Blues must do all they can to ensure the midfielder’s destination is to Goodison Park.
Above all the other teams said to be keen on the player, Everton are the club that can offer him guaranteed and regular first-team football.
Spurs, Chelsea, and Manchester City already have more than enough talent in the attacking midfield zone and with Gylfi Sigurdsson currently injured, it has highlighted an area where the Toffees are lacking strength in depth.
Maddison would be a perfect fit on Merseyside and would also be given an opportunity to develop his career – it’s the move that Allardyce needs to make his number one priority this summer.
