Everton news: Expert can't believe 'incredible' Jordan Pickford could quit this summer
Everton must not let Jordan Pickford leave this summer despite needing to sell in order to fund a rebuild, according to Noel Whelan.
The former Leeds striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claimed the 28-year-old has “almost single-handedly” kept the Toffees afloat in their relegation fight this term.
According to talkSPORT‘s Alex Crook (5 May), Everton are ready to listen to offers for England shot-stopper Pickford – even if they stay up.
The report claims Tottenham and Newcastle are monitoring the former Sunderland man’s situation heading into the summer window.
As quoted by the Daily Mail (8 May), Toffees boss Frank Lampard hailed Pickford “one of the world’s best” and claimed he “doesn’t get the recognition he deserves”.
Whelan suggested Everton should look elsewhere in their squad if sales are necessary this summer.

“Look at his performances for Everton – they’ve been incredible,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.
“He’s almost single-handedly kept afloat in the last two games with these unbelievable saves.
“But when you need big players, they show up in these big games – and Jordan is doing that.
“He’s taken a lot of criticism and doubt over his role with England, but I think he’s just put all that to bed.
“Everton have got to make decisions. They’ll have to sell some players, there’s no doubt about it.
“But they have to prioritise. It will be so hard to replace Pickford. Excellent international goalkeepers are so hard to come by.
“They should look to keep him, for sure – if they stay in the Premier League.”
Everton sit 16th in the Premier League – one point clear of the drop zone.
Pickford has kept six clean sheets in 32 league outings this term.
