Everton player ratings v Leicester: Woeful midfielder is a huge disappointment

COMMENT By Harvey Byrne

Football Insider rates the Everton players in their 2-1 defeat against Leicester in the FA Cup on Saturday afternoon.

Joel Robles 5 – Made some important saves, but was beaten twice by the Foxes attack.

Seamus Coleman 5 – Made some good runs, which ended in threatening crosses, but his teammates were unable to profit from them.

Mason Holgate 5 – The youngster was one of three changes to come in for the clash, but he struggled to cope with the Leicester attack before being brought off at half time.

Ramiro Funes Mori 4 – The Leicester forwards enjoyed some success against the Argentinian and he was a particular weak-point in the Toffees defence

Ashley Williams 5 – His experience let him down on Saturday as he was too slow to react to a number of balls in his own box and Leicester profited.

Leighton Baines 6 – The full-back was solid in defence, but struggled once the ball went into the Foxes half.

Tom Davies 6 – The youngster continued to impress on Saturday. His technical ability is one well above his years and the Toffees have unearthed a gem despite the result.

Gareth Barry 3 – The 35-year-old midfielder is no longer good enough to start for the Toffees each week. He couldn’t keep up with the pace in the centre of the park and he looked completely woeful on Saturday. A huge disappointment.

Ross Barkley 4 – The out of sorts attacker struggled to put his influence on the match and he was particularly wasteful in the final third. His set-pieces  were abysmal and he was correctly substituted.

Enner Valencia 5 – The attacker came into the line-up for the tie and most of the chances seemed to fall for him. However, he was wasteful with most.

Romelu Lukaku 6 – Found the net, but he failed to convert a number of chances. The striker has dips in and out of form and this was one of those matches where he struggled.

Gerard Deulofeu (For Holgate 45 minutes) – 7

Kevin Mirallas (For Valencia 62 minutes) – 6

Arouna Kone (For Barkley 75 minutes) – 6
