Everton are interested in Italian forward Diego Falcinelli, according to a report.
The Sun claim that the Toffees are set to swoop for the 25-year-old in the summer as they look to re-build their attacking options.
It is understood that manager Ronald Koeman is looking to replace Romelu Lukaku, who has not committed his future to the Merseyside club as he pursues Champions League football.
The report details that Everton have been scouting £9million-rated Falcinelli all season and that he is prepared to move to the Premier League from Serie A.
Falcinelli has been on loan at Crotone this season from fellow Italian club Sassuolo and has managed to perform in a struggling side.
The striker has scored 12 goals in just 37 appearances across all compettiiotsn this campaign, despite Crotone fighting relegation in Serie A.
Everton are bracing themselves to lose talisman Romelu Lukaku in the summer after the forward’s impressive form this season, scoring 25 goals in just 37 appearances.
Chelsea have reportedly made Lukaku a number one priority in the summer as Antonio Conte looks to improve his squad at Stamford Brige.
Football Insider verdict:
Everton will certainly need to bring in a new forward in the summer if Lukaku leaves for Chelsea and should have a big sum of money to spend. Falcinelli is an unknown talent to the Premier League and could turn out to be a good price at just £9million, with his goals in the Italian top flight this season proving his worth. However, he is yet to do that in England and the Toffees must surely be aiming for a higher calibre of player. Koeman should be considering players that have Premier League experience as he looks to establish Everton at the top-end of the table. They will need extra squad player ahead of their return to European football next season, but should look elsewhere for a new frontline striker.
