‘Everton set for Jack Grealish decision as West Ham join transfer hunt’

Everton want Jack Grealish but if they’re to land the England star the latest updates suggest they’ll need to move quickly.

Grealish has been with Manchester City since leaving boyhood club Aston Villa in 2021 and since then, he’s registered 17 goals and 23 assists in 157 appearances across all competitions to help Pep Guardiola’s men win three league titles and a Champions League among other honours.

However, the last two seasons have seen his opportunities drop dramatically, with the Birmingham-born wideman getting just 1,716 minutes of Premier League action since the start of 2023/24.

City have added Rayan Cherki to their attacking line-up alongside the likes of Savinho, Jeremy Doku and Phil Foden, meaning Grealish will likely find it even more difficult to get chances next season.

Everton face competition for Jack Grealish

Grealish turns 30 during the upcoming campaign and has just two years left on his contract. At the very least, City will likely want to get his wages off the books next season, notwithstanding bringing in a fee.

Everton have been admirers of the 39-time England international but now, it looks like the Toffees face competition.

According to talkSPORT journalist Ben Jacobs, West Ham United have lodged an inquiry about Grealish for a summer move.

It’s thought the finances involved in a transfer could make it difficult for West Ham to pull off a move, but the fact that the Hammers are involved will undoubtedly apply pressure to Everton if they’re serious about bringing Grealish to Merseyside.

Jack Grealish a top solution for Everton’s winger problem

Although not a prolific goalscorer, Grealish brings serious quality on the ball and a high work rate without it to any team he plays for.

These attributes make him a perfect fit for David Moyes’ Everton. And in reality, the Toffees are desperate for widemen.

Jack Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom both departed following the end of their loan spells and were largely underwhelming during their time at Goodison Park.

That currently leaves Moyes with Iliman Ndiaye and Dwight McNeil as his only recognised wingers, and the latter has found success playing as a No.10 more recently. Carlos Alcaraz can also play out wide.

Bringing in someone of Grealish’s calibre would be a huge upgrade on the wing for the Toffees and a major statement as they move to their new stadium on the banks of the River Mersey.

The question is whether or not a loan approach will be enough to convince City and fend off interest from rival clubs.
