Everton should look to bolster their defensive ranks with the loan signing of Chelsea’s Kurt Zouma in the summer, after the Frenchman hinted he could leave Stamford Bridge.
Zouma, told beIN Sports, as quoted by Get Football French News, that he would be open to a loan move next season ahead of the 2018 World Cup in Russia.
“A loan move ahead of the World Cup? Why not,” Zouma said.
“We will see at the end of the season, but I am focused on Chelsea. I am confident and I know that I will play. I have not had a discussions with Antonio Conte about the future.”
Zouma has just returned from a long-term knee injury and is struggling to earn any first-team game time, with David Luiz, Gary Cahill and Cesar Azpilicueta starring at the back.
Known for his aerial dominance and speed at the back, Zouma would perfectly compliment either Phil Jagielka or Ashley Williams in Ronald Koeman’s side should he be brought to Goodison Park.
The duo are both well into their thirties and have lost a yard of pace. Ramiro Funes Mori has struggled to impress since Koeman took over, with his positioning a concern.
Jagielka has also suffered a long-term injury and could begin to pick up knocks more consistently with his recovery time beginning to increase.
The Chelsea youngster, signed from St. Etienne, can also play in holding midfield and would be be a huge coup for the Toffees, allowing them to spend money on other areas of the side.
Adding Zouma to the Mersyside outfit’s ranks will give Koeman a much more sturdy outlook during next season, and could be the difference in seeing the Toffees break into the top six.
In other Everton transfer news, this MLS goal machine has been identified as a possible replacement for Romelu Lukaku.
