Everton told to seal ‘£10m’ Adama Traore signing after source’s reveal – pundit

Kevin Phillips has urged Everton to proceed with a deal for Wolves winger Adama Traore if they can secure his services for “around £10million”.

The former Sunderland striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted the 26-year-old would give the Toffees a “spark” from the substitutes’ bench.

An Everton source told Football Insider on Wednesday (20 April) that Frank Lampard’s side are eyeing Barcelona loanee Traore as Richarlison angles for a move away from Goodison Park this summer.

New director of football Kevin Thelwell is a big admirer of the Spain international and lured him to Wolves as a club-record signing in 2018.

Barcelona have the option to make Traore‘s Nou Camp switch permanent – but his game time has dwindled in recent weeks, opening the door for a summer move elsewhere.

Phillips insisted the wingers’ “experience” would be invaluable for Everton.

“One year left on his contract – if you can get him for around £10million, then Everton should do it,” he told Football Insider‘s Ewan Kingsbury.

“You know what you’re getting to get with Traore. You won’t be getting consistent performances every week, but he will give you that spark.

“He’s got that electrifying pace and that carnage – and that can be very valuable if you’re chasing a game.

“It sounds a lot of money, but around £10million for someone of that experience, he’s an international. It’s a really good signing.

“He wouldn’t be playing week-in, week-out – but what an option to have for Everton if they stay in the Premier League.”

Traore is out of contract at Wolves in June 2023.

He has notched four assists in 14 games for Barcelona since joining in January.

In other news, Kieran Maguire has claimed a group ‘loathed’ by fans can help Everton close ‘£100million’ gap on the elite.
