Everton victims of major injustice as controversial James Tarkowski clip drops - pundit

Paul Robinson has slammed referee Craig Pawson for his performance in Bournemouth’s win over Everton.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Spurs and England number one said the Cherries’ second goal should have been disallowed on Saturday (12 November).

As shown on Sky Sports (12 November), James Tarkowski went down with a head injury in the build-up to Kieffer Moore’s goal shortly before the half hour mark at the Vitality Stadium.

However, referee Craig Pawson did not blow his whistle to stop play despite the fact Tarkowski was down and holding his head inside the penalty area.

The incident would ultimately matter little with Bournemouth dominating the game and running out 3-0 winners in the end.

When asked by Football Insider if Frank Lampard’s side have reason to be angry with the officials failure to stop play, Robinson said: “The referee has made an error there.

“The game should have been stopped.

“Head injuries are a big topic in football right now and rightly so because it is not being handled correctly.

“The referee was hugely at fault, he should not have let the game carry on. It should have been stopped.

“Everton had every right to complain to the referee. The situation was not right.

“It is no excuse for their performance though. They were so poor. They are in a difficult spell right now.”
