Everton ‘willing’ to sell Amadou Onana first – Keith Wyness
Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness has claimed the club will be ready to sell Amadou Onana this summer in a bid to banish their Financial Fair Play concerns.
Speaking on the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, the 66-year-old – who served as CEO at Goodison Park between 2004 and 2009 and now runs a football consultancy advising elite clubs – suggested the 22-year-old is more expendable than the likes of Jarrad Branthwaite or Jordan Pickford.
Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (15 May) that Bayern Munich are extremely interested in a potential deal for Onana this summer.
Everton, who have breached Profitability and Sustainability Rules (PSR) for the last two seasons, are expected to sell first-teamers this summer in a bid to rectify their financial situation.
Onana has made 36 appearances across all competitions for Sean Dyche’s side this term – starting in 29 of those outings.
Everton to sacrifice Onana to keep Branthwaite and Pickford, says Wyness
Wyness claimed “two or three players” will need to depart Goodison Park in total if Everton are to comply with the rules.
He told Football Insider‘s Insider Track podcast: “There is a question of who Everton are going to sell to get rid of the threat of another breach.
“It could be two or three players who have to go to get us through that.
“I sense, and from what I know, is that there is more willingness to sell Onana this summer, rather than a Branthwaite or a Pickford.

“Everton would certainly like to keep two out of the three, but in football you don’t always get what you want.
“It’s going to be difficult to square the circle in terms of getting rid of this PSR cloud.”
