Everton’s response to Abdoulaye Doucoure contract plea revealed

Abdoulaye Doucoure’s Everton future is “up in the air” as he approaches the end of his contract, sources have told Football Insider.

The 32-year-old’s deal is up in June – potentially ending a five-year spell at Goodison Park.

Doucoure has made his feelings clear about continuing his career at Everton – mimicking the signing of a contract with his celebration after scoring the winner against Nottingham Forest earlier this month.

He has also confirmed his desire to remain on Merseyside in the media, but sources say no deal has yet been offered to the ex-Watford man.

Doucoure could be surplus to requirements at Everton

It is believed no decision will be made until the end of the 2024-25 campaign with the club not wanting to rush.

Everton are planning a big summer transfer window – The Friedkin Group’s first since taking over late in 2024.

It is believed they are plotting moves for attacking reinforcements, which could render Doucoure surplus to requirements.

He has started regularly in attacking midfield under David Moyes since he replaced Sean Dyche earlier this year.

Doucoure has made 163 appearances across all competitions since joining Everton from Watford in 2020.

The midfielder signed his last Toffees extension in November 2023.

Everton could land £30m Medina deal

Meanwhile, Football Insider revealed last week (21 April) that Everton will go toe-to-toe with Aston Villa and Newcastle United for Facundo Medina’s signature this summer.

Medina is capable of playing at both centre-back and left-back and Lens value the Argentine in the region of £25million to £30million.

The Argentinian’s form this season has drawn interest from the Premier League ahead of the transfer window.
