Ex-Man United star who Erik ten Hag called ‘magnificent’ undergoes medical as deal agreed
Christian Eriksen is set to join Wolfsburg after leaving Manchester United as a free agent at the end of last season.
Eriksen’s departure came amid a busy summer that saw Man United offload Alejandro Garnacho, Jadon Sancho, Marcus Rashford, Antony, and Rasmus Hojlund.
The 33-year-old notched a return of five goals and five assists in 35 appearances across all competitions for the Red Devils last term.
Meanwhile, Manchester United defeated Burnley last time out and will be determined to earn another win when they face local rivals Manchester City on Sunday, 14 September.

Christian Eriksen is set to join Wolfsburg after agreeing terms
Ruben Amorim has endured a largely slow start to the new campaign, as Manchester United were knocked out of the Carabao Cup by League Two outfit Grimsby Town.
Meanwhile, Fabrizio Romano revealed via X on Wednesday, 10 September: “Christian Eriksen to Wolfsburg, here we go! Deal in place and medical in Germany for former Man United player.
“Eriksen has accepted the proposal as deal can be considered done. New chapter for the Danish star.”
As reported by The Standard in 2022, former Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag dubbed Eriksen ‘magnificent’ when he signed for the Red Devils.
Christian Eriksen can excel after making Manchester United exit
While Amorim remains under pressure at Old Trafford, Man United endured a tough campaign last term, failing to land a top-half spot in the Premier League and losing the Europa League final to Tottenham.
Christian Eriksen stats | All competitions 2024/25 |
Appearances | 35 |
Goals | 5 |
Assists | 5 |
However, Eriksen made a strong account of himself from midfield by making 10 goal contributions across all competitions, including two goals and two assists in their Europa League run.
The 33-year-old proved his class in the Premier League with the Old Trafford outfit, Brentford, and Tottenham, while he also performed well in the Netherlands and Italy for Ajax and Inter, respectively.
Consequently, Wolfsburg can expect Eriksen to excel in the Bundesliga, where the Denmark ace can test himself against giants like Borussia Dortmund and Bayern Munich.
Meanwhile, Amorim can answer his critics by leading the Red Devils to victory over Man City on 14 September, before his side face another tough challenge against Chelsea six days later.
