Ex-manager: Celtic may have their own 'Cantona' as Lennon drops dressing room reveal
Alex McLeish has insisted Odsonne Edouard’s “temperamental” attitude will not stop suitors from trying to strike a deal with Celtic.
The former Scotland boss, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, pointed toward Eric Cantona as an example of a mercurial character who starred for his respective clubs.
The former Hoops boss also revealed Edouard had “made it clear at the start of last season he saw his future elsewhere”.
However, McLeish suggested the hitman’s attitude made him the in-demand star he is today.
Asked if Edouard’s temperament may put suitors off, McLeish told Football Insider’s Russell Edge: “Wow. Well, if you talk about top, top players over the years, you think temperamental, could you say Eric Cantona?

“It didn’t do Eric any harm. Some guys need that kind of makeup to be able to function at their best levels. Everybody’s got different traits.
“You can get a quieter player, you’ve got a full-blown captain who gets his fists out and does a lot of talking and organising.
“You’ve also got the guys who are quiet and just got on with their work but are a great bonus to the team and the actual team game.
“I guess it’s a trait that he’s got. It’s not harmed him as a footballer. If he needs that edge then why not?”
The French striker has a year left on his contract at Parkhead.
Edouard scored 22 times in 40 appearances during the 2020/21 campaign.
He has a total of 83 goals under his belt for the Hoops.
