Ex-striker makes 'amazing' Aston Villa transfer claim after bid submitted
Frank McAvennie doubts Aston Villa will make any more signings this summer after having a bid rejected for James Ward-Prowse.
The former Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, claims the club have spent their Jack Grealish money.
Grealish joined Man City in a £100million deal on 5th August after a summer of speculation.
This came after Villa had already shelled out significant fees on Emi Buendia, Leon Bailey and Danny Ings.
On 6th August, Football Insider revealed Southampton had rejected a £25million bid for Ward-Prowse from Villa.
It is understood this bid falls well below the Saints’ valuation of their key man.

Despite the big Grealish fee, McAvennie claims Villa may have already spent the money after such a low bid for Ward-Prowse.
“I think they have spent it all,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“I think they have spent wisely and it was inevitable Grealish was going to go.
“Some people have given him a hard time, which I don’t get. He’s had a great Villa career but it’s time to move on.
“He’s also allowed Villa to strengthen. Everyone’s happy, even if I am sad to see him go.
“I think they are probably done though, have they not spent all the money already?
“I mean look at the Ward-Prowse bid, that was so low. It doesn’t look like they have much left to spend.
“But that’s not a bad thing, they have had an amazing window.”
Villa kick off their Premier League campaign with an away trip to Watford this weekend.
Dean Smith will be hoping his side can repeat last season’s rapid start after the addition of several key players.
