Exclusive: £90m Celtic firesale on the cards, pundit: 'Something's going on behind closed doors'
Neil Lennon has to freeze out any senior players who do not want to be at Celtic, according to Frank McAvennie.
The Parkhead legend, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, joked his former club would “be lucky to field a 5-a-side team” if all of the speculation surrounding players wanting to leave was true.
A torrid run of just two wins in 12 has seen the Hoops crash out of the Scottish League Cup and Europa League while their 10-in-a-row bid hangs by a thread.
It comes after a £13million drop in turnover was revealed in the recently-published club accounts for 2019-20.
Ahead of tonight’s Europa League fixture against Lille, Football Insider asked McAvennie if he expected players to leave the club next month, he said:

“Something is going on behind closed doors. We are all speculating who it is that does not want to be there and the amount of names that have been flung at me we will be lucky if we have a 5-a-side team.
“There are a few players who do not want to be there and they should not be in the squad. There is no point putting them in the shop window because they are not playing well.
“Lenny has got to be strong and say that if you do not want to be here, you are not playing. It is as simple as that. Play the boys who want to be there and then the fans would know.
“There is no point playing players who do not want to be there because they will not play to the best of their abilities.
“Anybody who wants to leave is going to get a wee shock because nobody is going to take them.”
In other Celtic news, this may be real reason Dermot Desmond has stood by Neil Lennon.
