Exclusive: Agbonlahor in awe of Aston Villa talent - 'We'll See The Best Of Him Now'
Aston Villa midfielder Ross Barkley is beginning to get back to his best after missing almost two months of action with a hamstring injury.
That is the view of Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer Gabriel Agbonlahor, speaking exclusively to Football Insider after the England international scored the winning goal against Southampton at the weekend.
Barkley limped off in the early stages of their 2-1 win over Brighton & Hove Albion back in November and returned to action last month.
It was hoped he would be out for a matter of weeks but he eventually returned in Villa’s 2-1 defeat to Manchester City.
In his first three games back from injury the 27-year-old did not play the full 90 minutes but he completed the game at St. Mary’s and his goal proved to be the difference.
“When you’re out with an injury for that long it can take you a couple of games to get back into it, to get your flow back and your match fitness back, Agbonlahor told Football Insider.

“That’s why he needed those games and that’s why Dean Smith carried on playing him, just to give him that match fitness.
“He’s going to be an important player for the rest of the season, you’ve seen with his goal and the way he played last game against Southampton he was very good.
“I think we’ll start seeing the best of him now.”
Barkley moved to Villa Park on a season-long loan deal from Chelsea in the summer and has now played 10 games for the Midlands giants.
His header against Southampton was his third goal for the Villains and he has also provided one assist.
