Exclusive: Alan Hutton delighted by reported Aston Villa talks for 'Sensational' forward
Alan Hutton is delighted that Aston Villa are reportedly trying to sign Crystal Palace attacker Christian Benteke.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the ex-Villans full-back shared Benteke was sensational the last time he was at the club and he’d suit Dean Smith’s style of play.
It was reported that the Villans had spoken to Crystal Palace about signing the powerful forward and Roy Hodgson’s side have made it clear they’ll only interested in a permanent exit for him.
Hutton shared that he thinks Benteke will be desperate to prove his worth again after his form has tailed off in recent years.
The ex-Villans defender than admitted that he could envision the 29-year-old returning to Villa if the right deal is offered.
When asked about the Villans wanting Benteke, Hutton told Football Insider: “His record was really good at Villa, I think it was a goal every two games, around about that mark, to be honest, he was sensational, to be honest.

“Big, powerful, the way we played suited him, balls into the box, holding the ball up, getting to use his head, so he’d definitely suit them.
“I know he has tailed off over the last few years, Liverpool move didn’t work, Crystal Palace he’s not scored many.
“But I know him as a person and he’ll be desperate to prove his worth and maybe a move back to Villa…I’m sure the Villa fans will welcome him back with open arms.
“So I definitely see that as being an option if the package is right.”
Benteke has featured 16 times this season for Palace but is yet to register an assist or score a goal in any of his outings.
The Belgian international is contracted to stay with the London club until 2021 after signing an extension to his deal in October.
