'Wow' - Exclusive: Alan Hutton blown away by 'Brilliant' Leeds star who proved him wrong

Alan Hutton has been left raving over Leeds United defender Luke Ayling after his eye-catching goal against Huddersfield on Saturday.

The former Aston Villa and Scotland full-back, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, admits he expected the ball to fly over the bar when the 28-year-old connected with his volley.

Ayling’s blockbuster strike, which came after just three minutes, set Leeds on their way to a 2-0 win over their Yorkshire rivals.

The three points also sent the Whites to the top of the Championship table, with title rivals West Brom drawing 0-0 against Swansea City.

Hutton, who admits he had doubts over Ayling’s ability to finish in such a senational manner, has heralded his fellow right-back’s impact at Elland Road.

“I’d have been very proud of that one,” Hutton told Football Insider.

“I thought it was brilliant, a great run and I thought this is going to go over the bar but wow, great strike.

“He’s been doing really well over the past few seasons. They’ve kind of blown up towards the end but it doesn’t look like it’s going to strike again. It would be great to see them back in the Premier League.”

Ayling’s goal was his third strike in his last five appearances for the club, having also found the back of the net against Bristol City and Hull City.

He has a total of 29 appearances across all competitions this season, having missed the opening nine games through injury.

In other Leeds United news, Darren Bent has been left raving as the club plot a “fantastic” signing from the Premier League.
