
Exclusive: Arsenal’s Edu agrees amazing triple-your-money deal with Forest owner
Edu Gaspar is quitting Arsenal after agreeing a triple-your-money deal with the group run by Nottingham Forest owner Evangelos Marinakis, sources have told Football Insider.
The Brazilian transfer guru will become head of football operations for Marinakis to look after his three clubs – Forest, Olympiacos and Rio Ave.
It is believed his deal will be worth an astonishing three times more than is he is currently earning at Arsenal.
The news broke early on Monday (4 November) that Edu is leaving Arsenal after a reshuffle of key positions at the Emirates Stadium.
He played for the Gunners between 2002 and 2005, winning two Premier League titles – including in their famous invincible campaign.
The ex-Brazil international midfielder returned to the club in 2019 as technical director before transitioning into a sporting director role.
Nottingham Forest owner Marinakis appoints Edu as head of football operations
Edu has played a major role in transforming Arsenal into title contenders, securing the signings of top stars like Declan Rice, William Saliba and Martin Odegaard.
Marinakis’ Forest side have made a scintillating start to the 2024-25 campaign and sit third in the Premier League – one point ahead of fifth-place Arsenal and just six points adrift of leaders Liverpool.

Meanwhile, Olympiacos won the Europa Conference League last term and are playing in the Europa League this season.
Rio Ave have been in the Portuguese first division since the 2008-09 campaign and finished 16th in the 2023-24 season.
