Exclusive: Aston Villa to smash club record
Aston Villa’s overall revenue is expected to have surpassed £350million for the first time last season, sources have told Football Insider.
The West Midlands giants have faced profit and sustainability (PSR) issues over the past couple of years after spending close to the allowable losses limit, with top-flight sides only permitted to lose £105million over a rolling three-year period.
However, the club’s revenue has continued to improve following their upturn in form since Unai Emery took over at Villa Park in October 2022.
Villa posted a club-record revenue in 2023-24 after their turnover increased from £217.7million in 2022-23 to £275.7million, while their losses fell from £119.6million to £85.4million.
Emery’s side competed in the Champions League last season, further strengthening their financial position.
Football Insider revealed in March Villa banked around £70million in prize money from the competition before being knocked out by eventual winners PSG in the quarter-finals.
Sources say Villa are expected to announce a club-record revenue in excess of £350million for 2024-25.

Aston Villa agreed last-ditch sale to avoid PSR breach
The difficulty for Villa will be increasing – or even maintaining – last season’s improved revenue figures without regular Champions League qualification.
The club are aware their European revenue will take a hit in 2025-26 after missing out on a Champions League spot, having finished below fifth-place Newcastle United on goal difference.
Their sixth-place finish means Emery’s side will be playing in the Europa League next season in what will be their third consecutive campaign in Europe.
Meanwhile, Villa completed the last-ditch sale of their women’s team last month, helping them raise funds before their accounting deadline on 30 June.
The deal came after finance expert Stefan Borson told Football Insider Villa had a shortfall in their PSR calculations following their heavy losses in recent years.

Nicolas Jackson to Aston Villa update emerges
In terms of transfer activity, Football Insider revealed on 20 July Villa are ready to reunite Emery with Nicolas Jackson after the pair previously worked together at Villarreal.
Villa are understood to have held preliminary talks with Chelsea over Jackson as they look to bolster their attacking options this summer.
The 24-year-old registered 13 goals and six assists in 37 appearances last season.
